Minister Should be Afraid

Maori Affairs Minister Pita Shaprles, should be afraid at the stsate of the Rugby World Cup bid and what this War has become:

This has quickly escalated to a Proxy War that called for the PM to quash: After Senior Ministers planned to bank roll and form a coalition of the willing:

Although if Maori TV do win the bid: So long as they can full fill the obligations of the PM which is 100% Coverage on the Analogue Network to all of New Zealand:

So although the Government has signaled that now it would prefer Maori TV to win the bid, and to then off set the best bits to TVNZ and then TV3:

But we are still un clear on the commentary rights and other minor issues:

The Rugby boad has turned away bids where they are a combination of mall major broadcasters, namely a TV3 and TVNZ bid where the board sighted the reasons being, that the major market players were using their market share, so they were not trying to out bid each other, and not taking into account the real price of the rights:

They just wanted to bid agaisnt each other and they should they do compete and they can.

The main point to this though is why he really should be scared is that this plan lacks vision and any real sense of direction:

To be honest TVNZ want to use this as a cheap way to get the rights, in effect they will use Government pressure to force Maori TV to feel as though they must share with them: They will then want to use there own streams and voice overs - not on:

If the Rugby Board had any sense they would think about this, they need to wonder what image and brand they want to represent going forward, they need to understand where they are and why they are there, and it has been the previous government policy and intervention and poor coverage from TVNZ.

A new vibrant and Innovative Rugby Board, Web Development, Interaction will play a vital role in this bid, and Maori TV with its approach, backing and resources, and if they do networks with a more down to earth grass roots brand this will be better for the sport in the long run:

TVNZ have had there days covering our Nation in all forms, they need to start to learn where their battles are best not fought, they need to find their new market, which is new contents, interactive and website:

TVNZ lost the battle with Sport a long time ago when SKY moved in, and now with so many Free to Air broadcasters large and small, and the global economy TVNZ has to be realistic, there are just some markets they cant do so they shouldnt and they dont need to worry about it.
