This week the PM announced, his clamp down on the drug Pure Methamphetamine or P:
Dubbed "Tackling P":
It will ban the over the counter sale of cough medicine, unless via Doctor Prescription:
It also gives Police and Customs a boost in resources and a range of tools to combat this problem.
The new measures which were unveiled by the PM were actually quite good, it tackles the issue from a range of issues, from clamping out the illegal purchases to the importation of the drug:
All very good, other issues to sort out are the influence and ability of the gangs to change and adapt and create new economies:
How International shipping laws may influence and also the use of off shore shipping companies and International Banking Systems:
Stunting the flow of supply can also increase the price of the drug.
I think the biggest problem over the whole thing is that this was launched during the coverage of the Missing Girl Aisling Symes from Henderson and teh coverage over the Maori TV debate, which has kinda taken the spotlight: And almost shown that if the PM was going to take such an interest in a non story, than will he or is he taking this serious.
So the story has been around all work and gotten no where, with the only real legs it got were from Paul Holmes in his Sunday Column.
