Governments Desperate Attempt for TVNZ Bid

The latest news on this story is quite interesting, the Government deciding to back off a bit, is a 180 I suspect they looked at the reality and realized their Man couldnt win.

So they threw the last spanner into the works, they have a preferred option, which is for Maori TV to win the bid, and to share the coverage with TVNZ and TV3 - How this is going to work is anyone's guess: Some of the issues around this is could there be restricted to access to only towns Maori TV doesn't cover: Right down to Commentary, effectively TVNZ would wan tto have their own people: As well as perhaps the Video being done by Maori TV - Who will also do their own commentary, so having duplicate systems is un necessary.

The best option would be for Maori TV to win the bid, and for them to team up with either TV3 and CV4 Only, or perhaps another Company such as Triangle or even Sky Prime:

Using the later Companies would capture the Grass Roots community, something the Rugby Union has been losing.

A deal with TV3 and C4 could see re-runs and delayed coverage being shown on C4.

Maori TV are able to offer a full package and a deal with TV3 or say Triangle can add value to that package: Maori TV will bring culture and heritage, history and flavour:

They have a package that can incorporate and bring into the mix a wide range of ideas, concepts and people. This more interesting approach should be the focus of the Rugby board making the decision, they will want ot choose a supplier whom is able to offer something new and innovative to this spectacular event:

John Key and the National led Government have realized that their so called coalition of the willing from TVNZ and TV3 lacks the real vision and energy to deliver something of similar standard.

Maori TV has options and a wide range of avenues and the Government and TVNZ need to understand that times have changed and people have moved on and it is no place for the government or sneaky deals to rule our choices.

This issue is another major blow for a Conservative Government - Many Maori will view this as another blow against Maoridom, and many will be some what questioning of John Key and the way he has handled this situation especially in terms with respect to trying to launch new Drug Policy:

Senior National Ministers and the Maori Affairs Minister who brushed off as being new, and we fallah still new here: Is definitely not good enough, and it doesn't take much explaining to work out that both Pita Sharples and Georgina Te Heu Heu bot knowingly with held vital information that should have been made available to Senior Ministers very early on: And brought to their attention.
