Maori TV 90 % Coverage not a Major.

The World Cup Organizer Martin Snedden brought the story back into the light Today as he tried to explain where the extra losses come from for the World Cup and to tell us that we will be paying for most of it:

I think its ok its justified, and this event will bring enormous economic benefits to our shores:
The good thing is that other parts of the Country will benefit and not just Auckland.

The Interesting point that he raised, was that Maori TV dont need to worry about the fact they dont have full penetration on the Analogue Network, as Most everyone else will get coverage either through Sky, or one of the many different venues that Rugby NZ are setting up specific.

This is where Maori TV must show some leadership, they need to look at how they are going to cover the Games, they could split it to online, webcasting and mobile into one section and give this to TVNZ, they could give re runs to TV3 to cast on C4:

They should then partner with the likes of Triangle TV, or a smaller local broadcaster, once again to reinforce that grassroots level:

This would then give Maori TV a much greater spread, and it also would bring out the best in each broadcaster, TVNZ who is getting more into online content, and C4 where it would give the rugby re runs the best chance to viewers:

The Government has now said that Maori TV will win the bid and share it with TVNZ and TV3 Maori TV will have Commentary Rights.

The other Interesting point that he raised was the concept where teams would be hosted out to different towns, say Tauranga might host USA, or Dunedin Tonga: Hopefully even smaller Towns will host a team, or one of the various other support teams:

He was talking about the idea, that each town would support their team through the pool games:
I think its a great idea, and it really does help to bring the game back home to the grass roots:
